Moldova is the present name
of Moldavia, a country in Eastern Europe. You will find it between Romania
and Ukraine. Moldova used to be an extension of the Russian Empire during
1812 but eventually reconciled back to the Romanian lands by 1918. Much of
what is Moldova at present is the product of the 14th century.
The country is populated by
various ethnic groups which are Moldovans, Ukrainians, Russians, and others
such Gagauzians, Bulgarians, Jews, Germans, and others. They constitute the
4.2643 million. Among all European countries, Republic of Moldova is
considered to have the most population. The diversity of ethnicity
contributes to the culture of the country.
The land of Moldova is very
fertile supported with its temperate continental climate. Its lands can
nurture a productive agriculture, thus the success of vineyards."The
soil cover consists mostly of chernozyoms (80%), grey and brown forest
soils, valley swamp soils."
Although, winter is part of
the country’s season, it is by no threat to the vineyards since these
vineyards have long been established. Moreover, most of the vineyards are
situated in regions that have the model climate.
Dividing Moldova according to
its climate produces four agricultural areas. These are the North, Central
South and South East. And all the major vineyards in Moldova are these four
agricultural areas and the central industrials wine producers.
